On March 28 the Construction Day in 2018 was held at the National Library of Latvia bringing together around 300 specialists of the construction sector for professional discussion. The special guest of the conference is CMB partner Marc Gutermann representing the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Experimental Statics and Ingenieurgesellschaft Experimentelle Statik mbH (IGES). Such a conference has been held for the 4th time with the financial support of CMB Ltd.
The conference was opened by the Head of the Board of CMB and the Latvian Construction Council with a speech on the quality and safety in construction. As every year, the conference was attended by experts from the construction industry with a variety of topical issues in Latvia. However, the main event of the Construction Day was the presentation on experimental load tests from practice by CMB's partner Marc Gutermann representing the Experimental Statics Institute of the Bremen University of Applied Sciences and Ingenieurgesellschaft Experimentelle Statik mbH (IGES).
Experimental load tests is a novelty in the Latvian engineering consultancy market. This method can be effectively used to identify the actual load carrying capacity of structures in cases where it cannot be proved by calculations or project documentation is not available.
